Counselling Guidelines for Admission into DNS Course 2014

Indian Maritime University has issued recent circular regarding the counselling related to Diploma in Nautical Sciences. These circulars were meant for all the affiliated colleges that are participating in the IMU Counselling 2014. 

The Circulars Emphasis on, admission of candidates in to colleges, only when that college has tie ups with any shipping company. This will make sure that those students who are not sponsored, and taking admission in to these college through counselling, will be made sure to get 18 months on board training. 

These are responsibilities that Affiliated Colleges have to take:

1. To take the responsibility to enroll only those candidates from the IMU database which are

either selected and sponsored by a Shipping Owning Company or such non-sponsored

candidates as found to be meeting standards expected by our client companies and take

responsibility of providing the on-board training for 18 months (SSTP) to the such selected

and enrolled non-sponsored candidates by entering into a proper tie up/agreement with the

Shipping Owning Companies/Ship Managing Companies.

2. To take the responsibility of intimating such placement of these non-sponsored candidates

mentioned above for on-board training to the IMU and the DG Shipping.

3. To take the responsibility of intimating the completion of such on-board training of these

non-sponsored candidates mentioned above to the IMU and the DG Shipping.

In the event of non-compliance of above undertaking by the institute, we are aware that, the

institute shall be liable to face the following punitive action by the DG Shipping;

1. The intake capacity of the institute for the DNS program, for the subsequent one or

more batches can be reduced to extent of the number of non-sponsored candidates

should have not been provided the on-board training for 18 months (SSTP).
