IMU CET Counselling 2014, Dates, Procedure, Placements and Call Letter

IMU CET Counselling 2014

On 18^th June result were declared for all the courses. Now students will have to choose their colleges. Here are some of the details regarding this:

IMU CET 2014 Counselling Dates

Yes there is no official circular from Indian Maritime University about it but, there are some tentative dates for it. It is supposed to take place from 14^th to 18^th July as per the Rank of the candidates. Students will be informed by the university for the same. Since in the IMU rank list, ranks are above 4000, they will call students in slot wise for fillings seats.

But one thing is sure that, it will be done in the month of July as, the courses will start from 11^th of August.

IMU Counselling Dates for B.tech 2014

Generally the counselling schedule for B.tech and other programs or courses like DNS are always same. Those students who want to go for under graduate courses will be called up in the dates that are stated below. Yes the procedure may be little different.

IMU Counselling Dates for DNS 2014

As told above also, the date will be same for all the UG courses, i.e. 14^th, 15^th, 16^th, 17^th and 18^th July 2014.

IMU Counselling Procedure 2014

The procedure is fairly same as used in other universities. Students will be notified on the website of imu like a provisional counselling letter and location of counselling. Also university will tell the draft amount that candidates need to bring while coming for admission. This whole process includes, verification of documents, locking of your seat, checking the eligibility of the candidate.

Documents Required During IMU CET Counselling

These are some of the documents that you may require:

1. Your 10 and 12^th class mark sheets, original and Photocopy. It would be good idea to have photocopy attested by school principal.
2. Your DG approved doctor medical certificate.
3. Your caste certificate like SC, OBC etc.
4. Copy of the IMU CET Admit Card
5. Migration or Transfer Certificate from the Board.
6. Passport Size Photos. Better keep at least 10 in number, you never know when they will come in use.

Note: Nobody keeps your original certificates with them, they will just match original and photocopy with each other during verification process.

IMU Counselling Call letter 2014

Shortly candidate will be able to download the call letter from IMU website. By July first week, we are expecting IMU to give the call letters to everybody. It is always a nice idea to keep a printout of the same when you are going for the counselling.

IMU Fee Structure and Courses

Fee for each course might change. Here is the fee for various courses.

1)   DNS which leads to B.Sc – Per year you have to pay Rs 2, 20,000 (Male) and Rs 1, 40,500 (Female)

2)   3 Year B.Sc -Nautical Science – Per year you have to pay Rs 2, 20,000 (Male) and Rs 1, 40,500 (Female)

3)   3 Year B.Sc - Maritime Science – Per year you have to pay Rs 2, 20,000 (Male) and Rs 1, 40,500 (Female)

4)   B.Tech Marine Engineering – You have to pay Rs 2,25,000 (Male) and Rs 1,43,000 for (Female).

5)   3 Year B.Sc (Ship Building and Repair) – Per year Rs 2, 00,000 for residential and Rs 1, 40,000 for non residential.

6)   B.Tech Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering – Rs 2, 25,000.

7)   MBA in Port & Shipping Management – Rs 2, 00,000 per Year (Non Residential).

8)   MBA in International Transportation & Logistics Rs 2, 00,000 for non residential per year.

9)   L.L.M Maritime Law- Rs 2, 00,000 Per Year.

10)        M.Tech in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering- Rs 2, 25, 000 per year.

11)        M.Tech in Dredging and Harbour Engineering- Rs 2, 25, 000 per year. 

12)        PhD (Non-residential)- Rs 10,000 per year.

Indian Maritime University Affiliated Colleges

In total there are 36 colleges that will participate in the counselling. IMU published a circular in which college were asked to declare number of seats they are willing to fill through CET and how much though management quota. Six campus of IMU for sure will have all the seats through imu cet.

How many seats are available in Indian Maritime University?

Well, there are ample amount of courses, but we have given seats for undergraduate course only.

2286 seats for Marine Engineering 4 Years course in all affiliated colleges.

3313 seats for One year DNS course.

1175 seats for B.Sc nautical Science three years course.

Indian Maritime University Placements

2009 recession hit shipping industry a lot and those resulted in less demands for fresh recruits. IMU has been constantly trying to place students, but still lot to go in this direction. But some of the top college, either government or Private, have successfully led cadets to be absorbed in the shipping companies, by providing timely placements. To avoid surplus accumulation of cadets with no job in hand, DG shipping has taken various measures. Opening of too many maritime colleges, have also contributed too many students with no job in hand as supply is more than demand.

How to Choose Maritime College?

When you are choosing college in counselling, keep these things in mind:

1. Infrastructure that college have
2. How old college is?
3. How is the placement record in past three years?
4. Is faculty permanent or they are on contract basis.
5. Talk to students those who have already taken admission.
6. Location of the maritime college.

There are some of the things that you should keep in mind. There is no hurry. Better choose good college or not take admission, if you are not comfortable.

What if I am not able to get any College?

There is nothing to panic about if you are not able to get college. Try next year and perform well in entrance exam. IMU also have February batches for some courses.
